A gangster sets out to fulfill his father’s dream of becoming a doctor.
I have to confess: this is the first movie since I started this project that I simply could not watch. Not because I didn’t want to, but because I couldn’t find it online with subtitles. I tried watching it for about 20 minutes, but since my Hindi is pretty non existent I didn’t understand much.
From what I could scrap, an Indian mobsters or “don” lies to his parents that he is a doctor. But when his parents actually find out about his actual career, he decides to go to med school for real to atone for his shame. Although not the brightest med student, his abilities to interact with his patients and provide them with hope and compassion earns him the respect of all those around. It is a comical Indian reference to Patch Adams, but without the charm of Robin Williams. And with singing and dancing.
So there isn’t anything else I can say about this film. If someone is lucky enough to find a proper version WITH subtitles of this movie, I would really appreciate it and I promise to return to make an actual review. Until then, I am deeply sorry.
